Cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA)

An economic analysis that allows for the comparison of alternative interventions that achieve the same health outcome. In other words, all costs are related to a single, common effect/outcome. Results are usually stated as additional cost expended per additional health outcome achieved. Therefore, it can show whether additional cost will provide additional outcome. Results can be categorized as average cost-effectiveness, marginal cost-effectiveness, and incremental cost-effectiveness. Contrast with benefit-cost analysis (BCA).
