national pharmaceutical policy

A national pharmaceutical (drug) policy is a formal document intended to promote equity and sustainability of the pharmaceutical sector.  The general objectives of a national drug policy are to ensure equitable access, availability, and affordability of essential medicines; ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of all medicines; and promote the rational use of medicines by consumers and health professionals (WHO).
