Over 35.3 million people are living with HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS, 2013). HIV Basics is the introductory course in the Global Health eLearning Center's HIV/AIDS Certificate Program and reviews the basics of HIV/AIDS biology, transmission, epidemiology, and prevention. The HIV/AIDS Certificate Program is composed of 16 courses covering a wide range of topics.
Objective
By the end of this course, learners will be able to do the following:
- Describe the biology of the virus
- Define the epidemiology and modes of infection of the virus
- Identify the sexual dynamics that increase risk of acquiring HIV
- Describe additional prevention approaches
